Dothan has always been a city that holds its places of worship
and their activities in high regard. The community is home to
more than 140 churches representing 25 denominations.
While these worship centers each minister to their congregations as a
whole, special interest groups are served by a number of
programs. Outreach projects exist for the elderly and
underprivileged. Several churches also operate excellent
kindergartens and daycare centers.
Our churches, synagogues and mosque serve as centers where
newcomers can meet and socialize with residents. Local churches
often partner with civic and social organizations (more than 150
in the area) to serve the interests of the community. They
sponsor youth camps, Scout troops, softball and baseball
leagues, singles groups, and programs for the handicapped. |
