Transportation

 

Travel in and around Dothan and Houston County is easy. You can be just about anywhere in 15 minutes, and when it becomes necessary to travel long distances, you will be glad that all roads lead back to Dothan.

 

Ideally situated in the southeast corner of Alabama, about 20 miles from the Florida and Georgia borders, Dothan boasts an enviable accessibility to travel destinations north, south, east and west. You can be in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains by driving three hours north to Birmingham, or head for the sugar white beaches of Panama City, Florida, a short 78-mile drive south.

The cities and major commercial centers of the Southeast can be reached within a few hours. Montgomery and Tallahassee are less than two hours away, while Mobile, Birmingham and Atlanta are all about 200 miles away.

 

An excellent highway system intersects Dothan, allowing people and goods to travel into and out of the area with ease. Interstate 10 is 35 miles south; U.S. highways 231 and 431 are north-south arteries and U.S. Highway 84 runs east/west.
